Explore a Sample Session

1. Check In

We will use the Energy Dial and Mood Meter to help your child assess how s/he is feeling, and use this information to help us select  an appropriate grounding activity.

Discuss any developments since the last session.

Celebrate successes in our celebration jar.

2. Practice Tools

One of the following will be taught, as based on child’s check-in:

  • Breathing exercises

  • Mantras for positive self talk

  • Simple kid friendly guided meditation

3. Mini Lesson

We will explore a topic related to your child’s goals:

  • Emotions in the brain and body

  • Communication strategies

  • Understanding our thoughts

  • Gratitude and how to build a gratitude practice

All of these BIG life topics will be explored with age appropriate, kid friendly language and activities.

4. Summarize, Review, Connect

Review material and tools discussed.

Complete an end-of-session summary with simple homework and guiding questions for parents and caregivers to use to continue the conversation at home.

Parent Note: After the initial session, your coach will create an individualized plan detailing the goals that we will work towards in our session. This document is fluid and flexible. If your child comes to a session on a particular day and has a more pressing need, we will adjust the lesson for the day. Life happens!
