FAQS

What Ages Do You Coach?

We focus on children ages 7 -12 years old.

How Long Are Sessions?

Our Centered Kids Coaching Sessions are 50 minutes long and our Parent Check Ins are 15 minutes long. Parent Check Ins are scheduled every (3) sessions.

How Much Do Sessions Cost?

Our session packages vary in price and start at $125 / session when purchased in a package of 12. Explore all our pricing and packages here.

Do You Offer Virtual Services?

Yes. We offer Virtual, Hybrid and In-Person sessions. Explore the breakdown and benefits of each type here.

What is the Recommended Number of Sessions?

Session recommendations vary based on each child, however generally we recommend a 12 session package. This gives us enough time to build the foundation of trust and then practice the tools and techniques for success. Sessions are most effective when a child comes in once a week so we can build momentum and progress. Explore our packages here.

Do You Take Insurance?

We do not currently take insurance. However, we do offer payment plans. We want to be a support for you and your family. Reach out to discuss your options!

Are your conversations confidential?

We do keep our conversations confidential to optimize the relationship and trust between the coach and your child. However, we do provide session summaries, offer discussion topics, and parent check ins. If we encounter topics that the coach feels the parents should know about, we will provide strategies that support the child in sharing that information with their parents. It is our goal to support open communication, to maximize the benefit of our program to you and your family.

We will break our confidentiality in the event your child shares information that they want to harm themselves or others, we suspect harm being done to them, or if we feel your child’s needs go beyond the scope of a coach, and will provide references to professionals who can better support your child’s needs.

What is your refund policy?

We will provide a full refund for any unused sessions in the event we need to terminate the relationship.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request 24 hour notification if your child cannot make a scheduled session. We will offer one complimentary late cancellation and after that, will charge for the missed session.

What if my goals and my child’s goals are different?

We will first and foremost support your child’s goals, as it’s critical to the efficacy of our program and the authenticity of the coach/client relationship. Also, know that the skills and tools that your child learns will benefit all other needs and challenges, and that we will make all efforts to bridge the gap in any differences in goals over the course of the program.

What if I want my child to work with a coach but s/he does’t want to?

This is tricky but not uncommon. Forcing a child to work with a coach doesn’t set up our relationship to be a healthy one. So, instead, try discussing the role of a coach. We have coaches to help us become better swimmers, or to improve or level up our skills on the soccer field or basketball court. Centered Kids is directed towards leveling up life skills.

See if you can figure out the reason why. If we know the reason why, we can address it more successfully.

Wait for the right moment to bring the topic up. Right before bed or during a difficult or frustrating time is probably not the best time. However, sneaking the idea in when your child seems vulnerable and open to the idea could help. For example, your child has come to you and told you that they can’t stop worrying about stuff. The issue keeps coming up every couple of days and you keep discussing it and trying out different solutions. That might be a good time to say “Hey, we are trying lots of different tools to work through this issue. I think this is something that Centered Kids could help you with. If they say no, that’s ok. It might take a couple of different instances like this before your child says, “yeah, I’m ready.”

Also, let your child know that our time together moves at their pace, on their goals. Let them know that I’m a mom too, that I have two kids myself and so I’m very familiar to what life looks like in this community for kids who live here.
